 How it all began...

Vintage fashion has always been a part of my life because of my mother Dovi and my Grandmother Hazel. We were very close and weekly they would take me to every thrift store, antique store and flea market you could think of since I was a baby. In fact my first outing after being born was to Azle Antique Mall where my grandmother was the manager. Playing dress up with vintage clothing, admiring antiques and sleeping in dealers' booths was completely normal for me. Those are some of my fondest memories. Dealing in vintage fashion keeps me rooted in that family tradition and reminds me of where I came from. I cherish every article of true vintage that comes into my possession and I am honored to find each piece a new home and pass them off to someone else who has an appreciation for the past.

I’ve never really liked working for others or playing by the rules. Over the years I dreamt of ways to make a living that was on my own terms. Something I loved and wouldn’t tire of. Traveling is what really open my mind to this. Visits to Austin and even a trip to Germany and the Czech Republic I found vintage boutiques that I admired and wanted to emulate. I started selling in 2013 at local markets such as Lola’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Rummage Sale (which I am now the event coordinator for) and ArtsGoggle. Its no surprise I took a liking to it and was very good at it. Being such a music lover, I settled on a name inspired by Willie Nelson of course and the rest is history in the making.

Here are five tips to live by when buying vintage:

-Don’t be afraid to think outside the box. Open up your mind and try something you normally wouldn’t wear. You might be surprised how alive you feel!

-Know your measurements. When buying vintage it’s best to know this, especially when shopping online. Most dealers don’t pay any attention to the size stated on the original garment tag and go by measuring the item.

-Always hand wash your delicate vintage or take it to a very trusted dry cleaners who specialize in vintage. The last thing you want to do is accidentally ruin that very special vintage garment you love so much.

-Accessorize! A small accessory can make a huge difference in an outfit and really make it pop.

-Lastly, just wear what you like! Don’t try to fit in to the trends that society makes up. Be yourself, wear what makes you feel amazing and walk with confidence in your vintage. Trust me, when you do that you will shine.
